So I was doing some research and found this well written piece of literature:
"it wuz then that the vile beast jumped out of the shadows! oh god wuz she ugly! i shreaked in fear and dropped 2 the ground in a ball! it wuz my catch all defense! it werked against bears bullies n ugliness! i had never scene nething that vile! she approached me and i smelt her cat breath! ewwww! i puked all ovr myself! i kneaded to tear out my eyeballs n clog my nose! she attacked scratching me with her claws! ouch! now i new wut it felt like 2 be scratched by my nails!
all of a sudden tho she stopped attacking! i wuz 2 scared 2 move i just sat there in my pool of vomit quivering in fear. i had a crippling fear of all things ugly n this...this thing wuz the ugliest i had evr scene! uglier then a redneck! "
It hurts me.

What compels me
On a regular basis, I look upon the internet as a way to further develop solutions to everyday problems. But as each day passes I cringe at the use of the English language. I am not a literary guru to say the least, but just wish more people would follow the correct structure of the language.
Forums, I feel are the best example of how badly our discipline to the language has become. I get the impression that young children are writing these forums — Children who have become attached to their mobile devices and all of it’s abbreviated words and phrases.
I believe those of us who care for our language should take a stand and help guide our youth back towards a language that isn’t abbreviated and filled with ‘lol’s. If steps aren’t taken then I feel that our future maybe come what Orwell wrote about in his novel, 1984.

What we're all about:
This blog has been crafted to bring awareness to a growing concern –the concern that our English language is being depleted as each generation reaches adolescence. This blog will showcase examples of how poorly the English language is being abused.
I am a graphic design student who has been requested to develop a website that will resolve a global issue at a local level; my issue is literacy. I feel that creating this blog will allow me to gain insight and improve the quality of the final site.
The site, which is in its prototype and development stage, is designed for Ontario high school students who need to fulfill their volunteer hours. Once logged in, users will be tested in the areas of spelling, punctuation and grammar. The goal eventually would be for high schools to regard this site as a legitimate source of volunteer hours thus increasing the amount of exposure their students will have to changing testing materials.
Primarily, the purpose of this blog is an avenue for viewers to input their own pet peeves in regards to the misuse of the language. If there are words that are misused or continually misspelled, or if you simply have a high affinity for grammar and punctuation, then let me know. Help me craft a site that will mold our future generations.
